Anya Tsang (they/them) is a native Houstonian, and is proud to call Houston their home. They graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a Bachelor’s degree in Women’s and Gender Studies with an informal concentration on LGBT studies and queer theory. While at Case Western Reserve, Anya also got their start in LGBT work, serving as a Student Coordinator for the university’s LGBT Center.
Before Rice, Anya worked as one of the first program managers for the TransWellness program at the Montrose Center, Houston’s leading LGBTQ+ nonprofit. In this role, Anya supported transgender Houstonians of all walks of life in getting access to life-saving resources and assistance and spreading awareness of the transgender community to the greater Houston community.
In October 2025, Anya joined Rice University’s Office of Access and Institutional Excellence as Assistant Director for LGBTQ+ Thriving. In this role, they develop and implement programming that addresses the needs and experiences of LGBTQ+ students. They also support LGBTQ+ students, staff, and faculty in their initiatives to uplift and engage the Rice community.
